Original/Vtg – The Rolling Stones – European Tour 1976. 27.75″/70cm x 20″/51cm. Rolling Stones Photo Hiro. Delow Printers Ltd England. Always one of The Stones best tour posters – with its surreal/comic-strip imagery and vivid colours thanks to the glowing Northern Lights halo-effects around a the group shot from Hiro’s original photo shoot for the cover of’Black & Blue’ – which was released earlier that same year. Presumably like others, I was confused by the plethora of sizes for this poster – all of which claimed to be original. And my assumption is it came in 2 sizes – possibly one of which was also available at the venues (it was quite a small tour by modern standards – and in much smaller venues). However, I believe this is an original – and it certainly has the’feel-patina-smell’ & paper stock for a poster of the period. And the printer’s lettering details also look’right': It’ s certainly a nice example from the height of The Stones’ purple period – and were yet to be challenged by the rising tides of a New Wave. It’s a good size for many locations & would look very good framed – requiring no backing/restoration.
