The original woodcut engraving was produced in Blake’s 64th year. Not having had much if any experience in engraving, Blake nevertheless wished to push the boundaries of his own art further. He had been largely unrecognised during his life, though is now considered a seminal figure in the history of the poetry and visual art of the Romantic Age. The accompanying verse of Blake’s depicted scene present in correct (1902) format and attached to verso. Fine condition and without toning to paper or any foxing.
